The Canada Survey of Giving, Volunteering and Participating (CSGVP) provides the most comprehensive look at the contributions of Canadians to one another and their communities ever undertaken in Canada. Also conducted in 1997, 2000, and 2004, the CSGVP asked a random sample of Canadians a series of questions about how they gave money and other resources to individuals and to charitable and nonprofit organizations; volunteer time to charitable and voluntary organizations and directly to individuals; and participate in organizations by becoming members.

For more information about the CSGVP, please visit www.givingandvolunteering.ca where you will also find the most current training materials, reports, and fact sheets, and the CSGVP press release.

You will find a complete listing of CSGVP resources as well as related research and statistics on the size, scope and characteristics of Canada’s nonprofit sector in the Imagine Canada – John Hodgson Library’s Special Collection on National Survey Literature
